Sorting By Texture
We read the book "Spiky, Slimy, Smooth: What is Texture?" to introduce the concept of texture. Students learned that texture is the way that something feels. We can explore texture with our hands and feet. After reading the book, students were excited to close their eyes and place their hand in our Mystery Object bag and choose an object to describe to the class.
We read the book "The Oobleck" by Dr. Seuss. The students were excited to make their very own Oobleck by mixing 1 cup of corn starch with 1/2 cup of applesauce. We even added green food colouring to make it look like the Oobleck from the story. Students then predicted whether they thought Oobleck is a solid, a liquid or both.
